The Brainbow Matcha Latte tickles the brain with a double dose of alpha-wave inducing amino acids from matcha and a brain boost from the MCT oil. Prepare this recipe whenever you need to feel calm, focused and energized for several hours. Turmeric, related to ginger, has renown anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Like of all of our matcha latte recipes, this one calls for a bit of improv. This recipe is offered as guidance, and a suggestion, not as gospel. Experiment with ratios, flavors and ingredients that inspire you. For example, cinnamon, also an anti-inflammatory spice, might make a wonderful swap for the turmeric. For MCT (Medium-chain triglycerides) I used liquid coconut oil. If you don’t like the flavor, there are many odorless and flavorless MCT product available.
As for combining the ingredients, my only real tip is to make matcha as a paste with water first, then add to your latte. This avoids clumping which can be unpleasant. I like to use a counter-top blender with a warming option and combine all the ingredients into a warm airy latte for winter. This drinks works brilliantly cold and can be made in a martini shaker, or mason jar, and poured over fresh ice.
To enhance the mood, prepare matcha separately and combine tea and milk in a glass mug. Watching the golden swirl and ombre of the orange milk hitting the green tea entices the eyes and prepares our brain and gut for what’s to follow. Make it your own. Experiment. And most of all, enjoy!
